Internet Marketing For Newbies: Where Should You Start

A big question I seem to get is “Where should I start?”  And I totally get it.  There is so much information out there, it can be a little overwhelming.  Which is one of the reasons why I suggest you unsubscribe from some of those email lists!

But in this post, I really want to simplify things for you.  I want to cut out some of the clutter, and get straight to the point.  How else are you going to have a money making website in the next 7 days, right?

So the first thing I’m going to tell you is that the best place to start is with deciding what it is you like.  Truth be told, you’re better off selling things that you are passionate about than not.  Again, a lesson I learned.

When I first started out, I chose a niche that looked profitable.  But when I got into it, I really hated doing the things to help get it going.  The result is that it took forever.  Now it does make money today, but you don’t know how many times I wanted to quit, because I just couldn’t stand writing about it, marketing it, and trying to sell to an audience that I knew nothing about.

So your first homework assignment is an easy one.  Get out a sheet of paper, (or use your computer) and write down 5 to 10 things that really interest you, and that you know a little bit about.  A few examples are: Golf, Weight Loss, Fitness, how to potty train your dog, how to make your parrot talk, how to get your ex back, or anything else.

Maybe you found a faster way to do something.  Maybe you discovered how changing one little thing made something better.

It’s up to you.  What expertise or interest do you have?  If you’re at a loss for ideas, go to http://Clickbank.com and search in the marketplace.  Select a category, search by most popular, and see if any of those things interest you.

By the way, if they are tops on Clickbank, there is a good chance they are profitable niches.

Alright, so do your homework, and make your list.  Then we can move on to the next step!
